Cinco de Mayo Fun at The Avenue
Posted by The Avenue
New month, another fun holiday! At the beginning of May each year comes Cinco de Mayo, the day in 1862 that Mexico’s army was victorious over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. While the victory is celebrated in Mexico, Americans have adopted the May 5 holiday into also celebrating Mexican culture and history, celebrating mostly with music, dancing, food, drink, arts & crafts, car shows and more.
The holiday falls on a Friday in 2017, which makes for the perfect way to slide into the weekend. Grab your pals and head to The Avenue Murfreesboro this year for some Cinco de Mayo shopping, dining and fun.
Join us here at The Avenue we will be sippin’ on margs and munchin’ on blackened fish street tacos at Bar Louie for their Cinco de Drinko event – featuring Happy Hour specials such as $5 20 oz Dos XX, $5 Dos Sauza margaritas, $5 trio dips and $10 chicken nachos from 4 – 7 PM and introducing a new margarita, the “Me and Julio” margarita.
Looking for even more Cinco specials? Stop by Chili’s for 2 for 1 drafts, house margaritas, well drinks and house wine or BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse to receive a free entrée with your purchase of an entrée and 2 drinks.
No holiday is complete without the perfect outfit! For a festive look for your evening, try this floral and geometric patterned wrap from Francesca’s, with designs reminiscent of those on traditional Mexican attire.
Pair with these braided strappy sandals from Altar’d State. Perfect for #spring already, these flawless flats give the sweetest understated look while still being classic and appropriate for Cinco de Mayo. And spring time is a good time to #treatyourself to a new wardrobe!
Once you’ve added a vibrant and fun jewel set from Charming Charlie and a pop of bright turquoise eyeliner by SheaMoisture from Ulta – you’ve completed the look and are ready to celebrate!
Guys – check out Old Navy for affordable prices on colorful tanks and henley tees – just in time for warm weather.
If you’re not celebrating with us at Bar Louie but instead are hosting your own get-together, stop by Michael’s to find unique plates, napkins, decorations and other celebration needs. From floral arrangements to charms and beads for jewelry – imagine the things you could make and the fun you could have with DIY arts & crafts.
Lastly, visit Petco and grab a meaty treat for your best friend so he doesn’t get jealous of the tacos you’ve been chowing down on all night.
Once again, The Avenue Murfreesboro is here to take care of all of your holiday needs.
